AUDITION INFORMATION

The Tampa Bay Children's Chorus was founded as a non-profit organization in 1989 to offer outstanding musical enrichment and learning opportunities for children in the Tampa Bay area. Through the study and performance of the highest quality choral literature, our program allows children to develop musical artistry, poise, confidence, and self-discipline in a caring and supportive environment. A staff of some of the area's finest music educators and professional performers join to guide our singers through a wide choral repertoire. Choir placement is determined by age, musical development and readiness. The TBCC experience is a rewarding and enriching one for our singers and their families, and we look forward to welcoming you to the TBCC family.

AUDITIONS:
Auditions are held to give the directors a chance to meet each singer individually and to assess the singer's musical development in order to be able to best place them in one of TBCC's choirs. Our auditions are informal and fun, and no previous experience or preparation is needed. The audition will take about 15 minutes, and while your child is auditioning we will answer any questions that you may have and review the registration process with you.

Cantate Children's Choir Grades 3-6*
Concert Choir Grades 5-12
Chamber Choir Grades 6-12 - advanced singers
Viva Musica! - a selected ensemble of Chamber Choir members

* Cantate Choir rehearsals held at both locations. Please note a minimum of 15 singers is required for Patel Conservatory Choir.

ATTENDANCE:
Attendance at weekly rehearsals and all performances is expected of all choristers.

TOURS:
A summer tour is usually planned for the Concert Choir. Tour costs are not included in the annual tuition. Fundraising opportunities are provided by TBCC for choristers to earn money toward their individual tour expenses.

ADMINISTRATIVE FEES: A one-time, non-refundable $50 administrative fee ($25 each for siblings) is due with registration, in addition to the first semester tuition payment. This covers the cost of music folder, Parent Handbook, and other materials provided to each chorister.

Patel Conservatory singers pay an additional annual $15 fee which includes a Patel Identification card and a parking garage pass for rehearsal evenings.

TUITION:
Cantate Children's Choir $600/yr (2 semester payments of $300)
Concert Choir $800/yr (2 semester payments of $400)
Viva Musica (male tuition) $300/yer (2 semester payments of $150 only if not in other choir)

Scholarships may be available for those who qualify. Please ask the Chorus Manager for information and application.

TBCC offers a sibling discount of $50 per semester for the second and additional children in the family.

UNIFORMS: Each new singer will receive current uniform information upon registration. Cost of uniform ranges from $40 - $80. All singers wear plain, flat heel, black dress shoes. (No buckles, trim, open toes, or platforms please.) All singers are asked to purchase a red TBCC polo shirt for informal events. Girls will need black slacks for some performances.

DIRECTIONS:

ST. CATHERINE'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH is located at 502 Druid Hills Road in Temple Terrace, 33617. (A) From Fowler Avenue go South on 56th Street to the first light, which is Whiteway. Turn Left on Whiteway. (B) From East bound Busch Blvd Turn left onto 56th Street and go North to the third light at Whiteway. Turn Right on Whiteway. (A & B) Follow Whiteway about ½ mile (you will go straight at the 3 way stop) then turn right onto 62nd Street. St. Catherine's is located on the left at the end of a long residential block (on the corner of 62nd Street and Druid Hills Road).

PATEL CONSERVATORY at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, (TBPAC) on MacInnis Drive in Downtown Tampa. From all areas take I-275 toward downtown Tampa and Exit at Ashley Street. Take the first right turn after the exit onto Laurel Street (a hotel will be on your right). The Patel Conservatory entrance is on the north side of TBPAC (corner of MacInnis Drive and Laurel Street) facing the hotel. Metered parking is available on Laurel Street.
